The Rock of Chickamauga

£127.99

The Rock of Chickamauga is part of Flying Pig Games' acclaimed Black Swan Series, bringing to life one of the most significant and hard-fought battles of the American Civil War. Covering the entire Battle of Chickamauga fought between 18–20 September 1863, this two-player wargame recreates the fierce struggle between the Union Army of the Cumberland and the Confederate Army of Tennessee in northern Georgia.

Commanding the Union forces under General William Rosecrans, players attempt to outmaneuver and trap Braxton Bragg's Confederate army. However, Bragg anticipates the Union advance, withdraws, and launches a powerful counterattack, leading both armies into a brutal clash along Chickamauga Creek—forever remembered as the "River of Death."

Using the proven Black Swan game system, previously featured in A Most Fearful Sacrifice, The Devil's to Pay, and Hill of Death, this design focuses on large-scale Civil War battles while keeping the rules accessible and streamlined. Instead of activating smaller formations, players command entire Corps, making critical decisions about which divisions receive priority and where to commit precious resources.

The chaotic nature of Chickamauga is reflected through an innovative card-driven activation system, realistic fog of war, and limited command control, capturing the confusion and uncertainty faced by historical commanders. The result is a deeply immersive and highly narrative battlefield experience where no two games unfold in exactly the same way.

Featuring multiple scenarios, expansive maps illustrated in the distinctive style of the late Rick Barber, and extensive command displays, The Rock of Chickamauga offers both historical authenticity and exceptional replay value for American Civil War enthusiasts.
