Close Quarter Battles: Waterloo
Close Quarter Battles: Waterloo is a tactical wargame that recreates some of the fiercest fighting of the Napoleonic Wars. Focusing on the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815, players command French and Anglo-Allied forces in brutal close-range engagements centred on the famous strongpoints of Hougoumont and La Haye Sainte.
Only weeks after escaping exile on Elba, Napoleon returned to power and launched a bold offensive into Belgium, hoping to defeat the Allied armies before they could unite against him. Standing in his path was the Duke of Wellington and his multinational army. The struggle for key farms, orchards, and defensive positions became some of the most intense combat of the entire battle and played a major role in deciding the fate of Europe.

About the Game:
The Close Quarter Battles series is built around small-unit tactical combat, allowing players to recreate specific historical engagements with a high level of detail while maintaining a fast and engaging pace. This first volume focuses on the desperate fighting around the fortified farms of Hougoumont and La Haye Sainte during the Battle of Waterloo.
French forces repeatedly launched attacks against these vital positions, determined to break the Allied defence. The defenders, despite being heavily outnumbered, held their ground through hours of fierce combat involving musket volleys, bayonet charges, close-quarter fighting, and desperate counterattacks. The struggle for these locations became one of the defining elements of the entire battle.
Players must carefully coordinate infantry formations, manage morale and fatigue, maintain command control, and make the most of their leaders' abilities. Every decision can influence the course of the battle, whether launching an assault, reinforcing a threatened position, or committing reserves at the decisive moment.
The game uses a flexible core rules system that combines historical accuracy with accessible gameplay. While Waterloo serves as the introductory title in the series, additional module-specific rules and scenarios help capture the unique challenges of this iconic battlefield.
