About the game:
You take command of Confederate forces across five major campaigns of the war:
Seven Days Battles
Second Manassas
Antietam
Chancellorsville
Gettysburg
Each campaign presents a distinct operational challenge, requiring careful planning, timing, and resource management. From aggressive offensives to defensive manoeuvres against larger Union armies, every decision carries weight.
The game introduces Command Points, representing leadership, morale, and the ability to coordinate scattered forces. These are used to reorganise units, reinforce positions, and maintain operational momentum. Scouting also plays a larger role, reflecting the importance of cavalry and battlefield intelligence during the conflict.
The Union AI adapts its behaviour based on battlefield conditions, shifting between defensive and aggressive tactics. Once combat is joined, specialised battle plans come into play, including flanking movements and coordinated assaults, creating a more dynamic and unpredictable opponent.
Artillery is handled with greater nuance, including reduced effectiveness at longer ranges and the ability for both sides to capture abandoned guns, adding another layer of tactical consideration.
Each campaign also includes unique rules that highlight key historical moments, leadership decisions, and battlefield conditions, ensuring variety and replayability across multiple playthroughs.
